    Excellent
If you like your true crime storytelling hyper-commercial, sensationalized, and devoid of empathy, you will not enjoy this podcast. But if you want to delve into the lives, towns, and context of victims and the societal cause/effect of crime, you’ll enjoy Paul’s honest writing. I quite like the accent and cadence too. Consistently excellent.

    why so snarky?

    Well done
Listening from the Chicago area in the United States, and really appreciate all of your research, writing, and narration. The stories are very interesting and I love hearing about your cat! Keep up the great work.

    Please Read, Paul
The host’s voice is extremely soothing and has been very helpful during these oft scary times. First time listener and will be sure to stick with this winner long after things return to normal. Thank you for a wonderful podcast! Very calming. And very Ringo Starr lol

    Don’t waste your time
After hearing his ridiculous self-righteous rant about not going outside during COVID I decided to stop listening to his obnoxious accent. I’m sure after his 10th booster he’s finally feeling safe to emerge from his moms basement, I mean his “podcast studio.”

    Not the Same Show Anymore
Used to love this show, but now it’s one of the most boring TCP out there. Cases are dragged out for an incredible amount of time. I’m 10 minutes into an hour episode and thinking how can there be this much left…then realize there’s still a part 2. And to think I used to spend $5 a month to get bonus content. Show went from my favorite to now being dropped from my feed. I’ll miss Peaksies but goodbye Paul.

    Awesome podcast
I just started listening about a month ago and have been binge listening. I love this podcast. The stories are very well rehearsed and presented. Paul has a great way of presenting that keeps me involved and I appreciate his personal inputs and occasional asides. Keep up the good work. I will honestly be slightly sad when I catch up and have to wait a week between episodes.

    The Best
Since lockdown I’ve been listening to podcasts. I’m very particular as to who I review and certainly which podcasts I’m a Patreon. So here’s a review that I wait with anticipation for each drop and of course, I’m a Patreon.

    One of the best
New listener, but been listening to true crime podcasts for years. This is hands down one of the best out there. The host is detailed, relatable, and empathetic. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone who likes true crime.

    Great podcast!
I’ve been a faithful listener for over three years. Heartrending stories beautifully told. Not your typical true crime pod. Paul makes us see the real people and discusses the real impact of crime not only on the victim, but also on their families and their communities and the effect on law enforcement. All done with compassion and care. Certainly no shamble of bollocks!

    The exploding dad
Sad to say but with the abuse the Brown family went through by the hands of the father, “what goes around comes around”.

Like a kindly but macabre bed time story.
This pod is a juxtaposition of an avuncular, kindly narrator reading a Poe tale. The stories tend to be about an hour, told without hurry. The research is clearly considerable and sets this one apart. I cannot imagine how much work goes into it. The narrator is respectful and at times a bit puckish. No snark to undeserving targets. One of my favorites.

    Worth a Listen
This podcast was a wonderful find. I’ve heard it mentioned on Murder Mile a few times, and decided to give it a try. I’m very glad I did. The episodes are engaging and delivered in a victim-forward, compassionate way. I’m quickly working my way through the back catalogue, and I look forward to new episodes.

    Favorite podcast
I found this podcast by accident. I’d been listening to another crime podcast while brushing me teeth and suddenly the warm burr of a Welsh/UK voice was speaking. That and the touches of humor in the preamble were what captured my attention. I’ve now been binge-listening to all of the episodes. One of the things I love most about this podcast is the structure. I rarely listen to podcasts because I find the chatter distracting. But this one has such great structure throughout and Paul is a great storyteller. For me, it feels like grabbing a cuppa and a comfy spot to nestle in and hear a great (true) tale. Paul also does an amazing job of researching. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

    Great Podcast!
The True Crime Enthusiast is at the top of my short list of favorites. Host Paul does an excellent job researching, writing and narrating the cases, and he has a warm and charming manner, with subtle bits of humor here and there, while still maintaining an appropriately serious and always respectful manner in his storytelling.

    Terrific
True Crime Enthusiast is always top notch. The host Paul does a great job researching each case and always presents them with much care and respect for the victims and their families. That really does impress me and makes you invested in their stories.

    A Winner
I love this podcast. Paul is such a congenial host and I can’t believe how much research he does for each episode. He’s funny, thoughtful, has a delightful delivery and even a charming accent, if you ask U.S. me.

    Stand out podcast
As a podcast listener of true crime, it’s always exciting to discover a new podcast that you find yourself really enjoying. The kind that has a way of having your full attention. And over time, you notice a podcast that stands out to you above the rest, one that truly deserves a 5 Star rating and recognition…praised for their work and ability to tell a story…..and True Crime Enthusiast is that stand out 5 star podcast. From the moment I start listening to an episode, I find myself being fully immersed to the story…absolutely effortlessly. Suddenly, cleaning and washing dishes really isn’t so bad 😁 So ..I thank you Paul, for doing what you do. You truly shine at your job. I also love how you sometimes will say the most hilarious things 😂 making me burst out into laughter.

    Well researched and well told!
Just found The True Crime Enthusiast podcast yesterday and I have already listened to the first three episodes! It’s a very well researched and presented podcast, the cases are lesser known and the writing well paced. Paul has a natural talent for storytelling. This will be added to my rotation alongside Crime Junkies, Redhanded, and Murder Most Irish.

    My favorite podcast
I love The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast. Stories are interesting, well researched, and well written. They are often obscure cases with lots of twists and turns. The host has a perfect storytelling voice and delivery. His personality is a big plus.

Proudly sponsored by a fake mental health website
Too bad Paul continues to pimp Better Help— a data mining company pretending to be a mental health platform. Yes, you can work with alicensed therapist but everything you tell them is shared with analytics, social media platforms and companies that prosper from your distress. I DM’d someone and told them but they don’t care that Better Help is not HIPPA compliant and everything you share with your counselor is sold. How do I know? It’s in their new patient privacy policy. I used to love this podcast but I can’t stand to listen to Paul pimp Better Help. He’s either an idiot or a liar. And yes, it matters.

    Rethink your sponsors
Terrible sponsors can’t enjoy your podcast when I can’t even respect your choice of sponsors!

    What ?
I can’t figure out what he says - I listened to an episode and couldn’t follow it - but I appreciate his humor - wish I could listen because it seems well done - for me though I couldn’t understand him very well

    This is awesome!
I found the True Crime Enthusiast a few years ago and absolutely love it. I listen to it while I’m working with headphones on - it helps get through the workday.

    Love
I love Paul’s accent and the compassion he shows for victims. These aren’t the stories that you hear on 10 other podcasts, these are less known or spoken of😊listen you will be glad that you did!

    Started to listen but...
Can’t agree with glowing reviews. The guy goes on and on with personal chit chat. Too informal. I want to hear the story, not your diary. Update: I went ahead and listened to a few—skipping the chatter—and they were pretty good. Paul is a warm and caring person but I could do with less insertion of personal feelings. We are all horrified by the callousness of brutal crime without all the parenthetical dismay. Others seem to like it, so I’ll have to either get over it or quit. For now I’ll listen a bit more. The Welsh (?) accent is very lilting and the occasional humor is great—just don’t like the judgemental bits. I think Casefile gets this right. One other thing— I don’t know how old Paul is, but PLEASE stop with the word ELDERLY. Older person will do, thank you very much young man. I am “elderly” and run three miles a day, build fences for my chicks, and have all sorts of active fun with my younger husband and adult grandchildren. I travel, drive, bicycle and still get compliments from gentlemen—elderly and not so elderly : ))

    So well done!
I am very picky about what podcasts I subscribe to. They have to be well thought out, well scripted, if true crime they must have respect for the victims and survivors involved—the True Crime Enthusiast meets this criteria and so much more. He clearly does his research, recommends other podcasts, and care about his topics. I already got one sister addicted….
  • HaleyBrooke_23
    My favorite podcast!
Paul does an excellent job and really does a great job with his research and presentation. I love that I can sit back and unwind to a greatly researched and well thought out telling of true crime. He has an excellent voice and great delivery. I live in the US but I binge on his podcasts as I love to hear a good podcast from all over the world. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Just great
I remember the first time I heard the narration, I pictured an old gentleman living in a quirky cottage, lol. Really love it and Paul, can’t wait for a new episode every week.

    Paul is Top Notch
Meticulously researched. Paul has a WONDERFUL sense of humor, he’s warm, caring and modest. Someday I must buy him a drink!

    Original and gripping
I enjoy listening to this podcast as Paul tells the true crime stories in a conversational tone rather than monotone. He always warns that some people may find the content disturbing. Everyone should find the content disturbing- some people just might not be interested in hearing the disturbing details. Not sure why you’d listen to a true crime podcast if you did... regardless I enjoy the podcast despite finding the details disturbing. :-)

    Bloody Fabulous Podcast
I’m sitting here with my True Crime Enthusiast coffee mug with hot coco, and a large shot of Baileys Irish cream listening to the Series review. I’ve been listing to Paul for so long and am always in awe of his stories. He is a wonderful story teller. Please take a listen, you’ll be hooked.

So Dumb to give 1 star for Notifications
This is to the dingbat that gave this excellent podcast ONE a star because he doesn’t like "Wondery" to send him 10 notifications for every new podcast they have. That truly irritates me, also. THATS WHY I SIMPLY SELECTED NO NOTIFICATIONS. It’s is neither this great host's, nor this excellent podcast's fault that this person doesn’t know how to use his settings. His 1 star rating to blame something else for his own ignorance is maybe the dumbest ratings rant I’ve ever seen.

Love this podcast! It’s great to hear your thoughts in your accent about the evilness of villains in the story. Greatnesss.
  • nicknamenone09
    Fantastic podcast!
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and this is one of my favorite. I would definitely recommend it! He is thorough in his research and he does a great job telling the story. He also chooses lesser known cases, so you aren’t listening to the same information over and over. He is always very respectful when talking about the crime itself, but when his commentary goes off script he has some funny lines about music or other things that are not crime related. If you like true crime you should definitely check this podcast out.

    Brilliance at its best!
Paul I love how detailed your stories are and you are a superb storyteller. I listened to the Maniac series all in one night...well, 7 of them anyway. You are my very favorite true crime podcast as I am indeed a true crime enthusiast. I look forward to listening to your entire collection and will go to Patreon to donate. Thank you so much for all of the tender care you put in your passion.
